Well I was challenged on AC that my method of searching for eggs was no more or less reliable than many others posted. Taking that as a slap in the face I did another study. Since all my data was compiled from thousands of searches on other servers, and before the latest PE updates, it was possible that there were some changes.
Result? Yep, there have been changes. OK, now let's put our collective minds together and come up with a search that is highly successful. Here are some things that are known about searching on Freedom.
1.) Some methods of searching just don't work at all (ask MikeCVtown)
2.) Sending searches to same tree with water at base seems to have some value
3.) Movement of eggs as well as monsters is random and lacks repeated pattern.
I started 6 emulator accounts and tested startup. All 6 found an egg in the first set of searches. (Oh yes, the emulator issue was found from 2021 and I reported it to PE on 4/25/2011) Further tests show that speed potion does help but spy tech upgrade does not.
However, I applied the same technique to my mature account and the results were not one out of 6! I have not found a way to duplicate the success of new accounts.
There are literally billions of search combinations. Here are some assumptions that may or may not be correct:
1. 10 spies work just as well as thousands
2. Leaving spies in field less than 12 hours reduces the return rate
3. Distance sent has no effect
4. Eggs can be found anyplace - trees, bare ground, ponds, warzone, refrigerator, etc.
What we need is some method of searching that improves on the 10% return rate. Oh, if you get less than 10%, then please let us know what you are doing so we can eliminate that method. _________________ Walkyr - defender of the weak

So what happens if you find a good spot? Are you likely to keep finding eggs there?
I picked three coords. Coord one had yielded 2 eggs for 6 searches and the other 2 had yielded one. I sent 12 searches to each location. One egg was all I retrieved out of 48 searches.
For now I am experimenting with warzone combos and will return to easter egg hunting at a later time. _________________ Walkyr - defender of the weak |

What the heck! I called back 87 searches that were out from 18-24 hours and got 15 eggs! That was the best ever!
Now if I can just figure out if it was dumb luck or some pattern to be explored.
What did not work was the grid. Yesterday I plotted a 10x10 grid and spied every spot. Only 4 of 98.
Then today I spied trees. I spied a tree specified by Smit before he departed. It was in the same spot at a fallen. It yielded 1 of 12. Then I spied every tree close to it and found 5 eggs out of 15 searches on 5 trees. So that was 6 of 27 searches.
Then my other 60 searches went to trees with water at base. Yep, my old tried and true of 10 spies 6 times to same tree. That yielded 9 eggs.
What next? Well I am trying something really stupid. I will search the same trees again. I will also find innumberable fallen and search that spot.
Gotta find something that works. Dangezy and Quassir are working on some cool stuff also. _________________ Walkyr - defender of the weak |

Out of exactly 1000 searches in the warzone here are my results. I was using a metro and two counties for each search. A total of 38 searches between the forts. At first I was sending my searches from each fort, 100,000 spies per search at the closest tree with water by each individual fort. I spent 190 searches that way with an upsetting 13 faction monsters. Then I tried a water spot by each individual fort for 300 searches. Much better with a yield of 32 faction monsters. For my last 510 searches I have been alternating between a water spot and a xmas tree. I would send to the same spot from all three forts for this method and the water spot and the xmas tree yielded close to the same results. I found 61 eggs out of the the 510 searches. 31 from the xmas trees and 30 from the water spot. I did get lucky on one search finding 8 eggs out of 38 searches at a xmas tree. My best results are having all my forts searching the same spot. My results were the same regardless of 12 hr search times and 24 hr search time. (' ') |

Excellent info, dangezy! And particularly interesting since it was done in the warzone.
When you sent 38 searches, do you have any idea whether the first 10 set of spies had any more or less success than the last 10 set of spies? In other words, I am trying to figure out if a spot can be worn out and show decreasing returns after time OR is a successful spot always successful. _________________ Walkyr - defender of the weak |

I'm not sure about the first ten or last ten. I just wrote down the locations. When I get a chance I'll look at my searches in depth to see if there is a pattern. Sunday at the very latest. |

Warzone dynamics are different than homeland. Those spike trees with water at base yield 1 for 9 searches. Verifying what dangezy found they only yield 1 for 18 searches in warzone.
Also verifying dangezy, 11 searches each from 3 different properties at a single Christmas tree yielded 4 eggs for a 1 for 8 result.
Another interesting thing is 24 health potions were found in 200 searches. This paid for 48 searches and the daily health accounts for 36 searches. _________________ Walkyr - defender of the weak |

I have finally become convinced that it is all just random. There are 13 items that spies can find (eggs being one) and each will be found on the same frequency regardless of what search method is used. If it is truly random here is the relation between speed and number of fm (faction monsters). For example my speed is 7+252/800. My fm = 228. By the table below I can see a statistical expectation would be more than 216 but less than 277.
Speed Number of fm
Level zero 100 8
Level 1 200 23
Level 2 300 46
Level 3 400 77
Level 4 500 116
Level 5 600 162
Level 6 700 216
Level 7 800 277
Level 8 900 347
Level 9 1000 424
Level 10 1100 508
Level 11 1200 601
So no more chasing down theories of trees vs ponds or 3 spies vs 10,000 spies or wz vs homeland. I will be content with a 1/13 chance and keep searching. UNLESS... someone is able to tell me that they have either found the secret for greater success or much worse results. Then I will find myself on that maddening research merry-go-round again. _________________ Walkyr - defender of the weak |

Update
Ok, so I lost 558 searches. I got nothing. No chests, eggs, potions, or dried phoenix bones. Bummer! Many people are testing now searches with the following number of spies
1
3
33
333
1000
10000
Searches with 1k and 10 returned 4 eggs for 33 searches. Searches with one spy will be retested. _________________ Walkyr - defender of the weak |
